Why Galapagos Islands Need to be expensive?

Everytime that I travel and I start to talk with the people about Galapagos Island, they express me the indeep wish to travel and visit the place that one time ago impressed and imspired the celebred British naturalist Charles Darwin. From 1.835 to today the nature chages were so little and most of the animal are very tame and curious to the humans.

But the problem that I always heard from many people is the expensive limitation of Galapagos. That disapoint me, because Galapagos Island not need to be that expensive. Galapagos is a UNESCO Natural Heritage of the Humanity from 1.978 and everybody have the right to visit the island in their own posibilities, and without affecting the fragile enviroment. So many tourist that visit Ecuador can not afford to go to that paradise because the prices or because they think that is expensive to travel according to the ad on internet. That is a big, Big, BIG pitty, because That is not completly true.

In this blog, I want to share many ways to travel cheap as you can, to my Home Islands without broken a law, affect tour operators, or so on; but maybe helping the Galapagos local economy and make you happy tyraveling unexpensive.

  2. Disculpame por la demora. Look usually people waste the first an dthe last day in a cruise. But that depend of the budget. Why? because they charge you the full day price and you only have have day service, but maybe that are their profit.

If you don`t want to spend a lot take a dayly tour to visit tyhe highlights. Look, you can visit Darwin center for free, every tour company do this but charge you for the service and the guidance. In the interpratation center you don`t need a guide because it is selfguiding little museum. well, you have the tortises pen, nad you need to follow the trail. Doing this you are saving around 100 dollars.

In the Highlands of Santa Cruz Island they are many private ranches, were the giant tortoises are in seminatural conditions. Every tour company from the cheapest one to the expensive one goes there. The cost: a private taxi cost 10 dollars and the entrance is aorund 3 dollars. And as this areas are not part of national park you don`t need a guide, and you can tip the people that work there and happily they bring you to the different pond where the giant tortoises rest.

Now, The most important visits: Pinnacle rock on Bartolome where are penguins and Sulivan which is in form of it and you can see the lava flow of 100 years old; Española Island is the Island of the birds: Albatrosses, blue food boobies, nazca (masked) bobbies, red billed tropic bird, galapagos hawk, and also red marine iguanas, sea lions, etc. In floreana you have history but the flamingoes in the green beach of Cormorant point are nice and chance to walk close to sting rays, but the best is th snorkeling in Devil`s crownd. All of this you can do in daily tours.

About cruises, What can I tell you. You are going to pay for the service on board because very one have the same nature in Galapagos, in other words most of th tours go to the same places.
